GearAudition equalizers
Equalizer shootout method:
Clips were recorded in 24bits 44.1kHz format, then dithered to 16bits 44.1kHz using R8brain pro, and finally compressed to 360kbits VBR format using LAME mp3 encoder.Signal chain An Epiphone AJ-200 SCE acoustic guitar sample recorded through a Neumann KM184 > John Hardy M1 preamp > Apogee Rosetta 200 > Cubase SX4 was passed through different equalizers, using the same three settings
(natural, darker and thinner).
Signal chain;
-Software: Cubase SX4 > Acoustic guitar > Equalizer > Cubase SX4.
-Harware: Cubase SX4 > Acoustic guitar > echo Layla outputs > Compressor > echo Layla inputs > Cubase SX4
  Settings Settings: Setting1:(natural)
- 60 Hz Shelf(0) = -8dB
-240Hz = -8dB
-2.50kHz = +2.5dB
-10.0kHz Shelf = +3dB
Q = 4
Setting 2: (darker)
- 100Hz = -6dB
-300Hz = +2dB
-4kHz = -8dB
-7kHz Shelf(0) = -8dB
Q = 4
Setting 3: (thinner)
- 170Hz shelf(0) = -8dB
-700Hz = +4dB
-1.5kHz = +4.5dB
-7kHz Shelf(0) = +3dB
Q = 4
Note: The following equalizers have different parameters, they were adjusted as close as possible to the settings.
