GearAudition audio compressors

Audio compressor shootout method:

Clips were recorded in 24bits 44.1kHz format, then dithered to 16bits 44.1kHz using R8brain pro, and finally compressed to 360kbits VBR format using LAME mp3 encoder.
Signal chain A Drum Kit From Hell Superior pattern sample with overhead outputs was passed through different compressors, using the same three settings
(light, medium and heavy).

Signal chain;

-Software: Cubase SX4 > Overhead drums sample > Compressor > Cubase SX4.

-Harware: Cubase SX4 > Overhead drums sample > echo Layla outputs > Compressor > echo Layla inputs > Cubase SX4

Settings Settings: Light:

- ratio = 2:1:1
-threshold = -18db
-attack = 1.0ms
-release = 300ms

Medium:

- ratio = 4:1
-threshold = -23db
-attack = 1.0ms
-release = 300ms

Heavy:

- ratio = 10:1
-threshold = -40db
-attack = 1.0ms
-release = 300ms

Note: The following audio compressors have different parameters, they were adjusted by ear, as close as possible to the settings.
UAD LA2A, UAD 1176LN, UAD 1176 SE, UAD Fairchild 670 No Fx, other then audio compression, has been added.
